π¦· Fluoride: What Needs Updating Is Not Fluoride Itself, but How We Use It in Clinical Practice
Fluoride has long been recognized as the cornerstone of caries prevention. In contemporary dentistry, however, its role has evolved far beyond preventing dental caries, becoming a central therapeutic tool in the prevention and management of a wide range of hard tissue diseases.
At VIDEC 2026, Prof. Vo Truong Nhu Ngoc, DDS, PhD will present the lecture:
π “Fluoride in Modern Dentistry: Redefining Its Role in Prevention and Management Strategies for Dental Dard Tissue Pathologies.”
π¬ This lecture will introduce an individualized approach to fluoride therapy, highlighting its role not only in the prevention and remineralization of incipient carious lesions, but also in the management of dentin hypersensitivity, the relief of post-scaling discomfort associated with cervical and root surface exposure, and the treatment of developmental enamel defects, including Molar-Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH), enamel cracks, and other white spot lesions.
The session will also provide updates on novel fluoride formulations, discuss optimal fluoride concentrations for contemporary clinical practice, and propose a practical evidence-based framework for the safe, effective, and appropriate use of fluoride within the principles of minimal intervention dentistry.
