Understanding DSD is not difficult. The real challenge lies in translating its principles into a streamlined and efficient workflow for everyday clinical practice.
🤖 Led by Assoc.Prof. Ding-Han Wang and Dr. Hsuan Chen, MDS, PhD – experts in the application of AI and digital technologies in smile design – this hands-on workshop will take clinicians from the fundamental principles of Digital Smile Design (DSD) to practical implementation using an accessible, free web-based application.
🔎 Key Topics of workshop | VIDEC 2026
🔶 Facial analysis, reference lines, and digital reference landmarks
🔶 Assessment of dental proportions and tooth position in relation to the face
🔶 Application of AI to automate and accelerate the smile design workflow
🔶 Hands-on generation and simulation of customized smile designs using a web-based application
🔶 Integration of smile simulations into diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient communication
What makes this workshop distinctive is its strong practical focus. Rather than simply exploring what AI can do, participants will directly experience how AI can help transform a traditionally technique-sensitive DSD workflow into a more streamlined, intuitive, and accessible clinical process.
🎯 From facial analysis → DSD → AI → smile simulation → clinical application.
